Gloucester Marine Terminal trucking to Ontario and Quebec
Holt's Gloucester Marine Terminal in Gloucester City, New Jersey, closes its gate at 4 pm and lists no weekend hours, so the eModal appointment is booked before a Fission Logistics truck leaves Mississauga, Ontario. We pick up steel coil, plate and pipe there and deliver it to plants in Ontario and Quebec, in bond under our own US Customs bond. Coil rides in a Conestoga and a TWIC driver goes to the gate.

Planning around an 8 to 4 gate
The gate closes at 4 pm and Holt lists no weekend hours. If Friday is the last free day and the lot is not out by 4 pm, storage runs all weekend. So we book the eModal appointment before the truck leaves Ontario, put the driver near the terminal the night before, and take the first window of the morning. That gives the terminal the whole day to load before the gate closes.
Free time
Holt does not publish free time, and it changes by commodity and tariff. Ask the terminal or your forwarder for the last free day in writing when the arrival notice comes, and send it to dispatch with the release. We plan the trucks back from that date. At most terminals weekends and holidays count once storage starts, even where they did not count toward free time.
Steel and fruit share this terminal
Holt calls Gloucester the largest reefer and dry CFS facility in the region, so steel trucks share the gate with fruit and perishables. A steel truck without an eModal appointment does not get in.
Customs: in bond under our own bond
Freight landed at Gloucester is foreign cargo that has not entered the US. It moves on a T&E in bond (the 7512) under Fission's own CBP custodial bond. The port of exportation is Buffalo or Lewiston, New York, or Champlain, New York, for Quebec. No US duty is paid, Section 232 steel and aluminum tariffs included. Your customs broker clears it into Canada at Fort Erie, Queenston or Lacolle.
For a Gloucester pickup one party files the in bond and reports both ends. Fission files in ACE under our bond. Or your customs broker files under our bond, with our SCAC, FSGQ, and our letter of authorization. Tell dispatch which when you book. Steel a US importer has already entered moves to Canada as a regular export instead. TIB exports and the full process: in bond port pickups.
TWIC drivers and gate access
Gloucester Marine Terminal is an MTSA regulated marine terminal, so unescorted access takes a TWIC card. Fission assigns TWIC drivers to US port pickups. When the truck that fits the load has a driver without one, we use local escort services, booked ahead, so the pickup still makes its appointment. See how we handle TWIC.
Trailers
Coil and tin plate coil ride in a 53 ft Conestoga with coil racks, timbers and belting, eye to side, eye to sky on skids or eye to front, covered without a tarp. Plate and pipe go on an open flatbed or a Conestoga, depending on how the terminal loads it. Each truck takes up to 45,000 lb. See steel coil transport and pipe hauling.
Getting a Gloucester pickup quoted
Send the eModal appointment window if you have one, the release or bill of lading number, the vessel and its discharge date. Add the piece count, weights and delivery address. Loads inside 500 miles of the GTA deliver the next business day. Dispatch names the trailer with the price within 1 business hour, 7 am to 6 pm ET, and answers at (905) 799 7900, press 1, 24 hours. What else to send, and how tracking works, is on the port trucking page.

Questions shippers ask
Do you truck from Gloucester Marine Terminal to Canada?
Yes, to Ontario and Quebec. The freight moves in bond under our own US Customs bond to Buffalo or Lewiston, or Champlain for Quebec. Your customs broker clears it into Canada on the other side of the bridge. We do not deliver to US addresses from the port.
Does Gloucester Marine Terminal need an appointment?
Yes. Holt requires eModal for truck pickups. Dispatch books the appointment with your release number and confirms it the day before.
What are the gate hours?
Holt lists Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, and no weekend hours. We plan Friday pickups for the first window of the morning.
Is Gloucester part of the Port of Philadelphia?
Holt describes it that way. It sits on the New Jersey side of the Delaware River, across from Philadelphia. Tioga, Packer Avenue and the Camden terminals are on the Philadelphia and Camden page.
Can you take a full vessel lot?
We plan it across several trucks and days. Send the piece count and weights and dispatch works out how many trucks a day it takes to clear the lot inside free time.
