Lumber and wood products transport
Lumber is an occasional return load for Fission Logistics, not a lane we chase. When one of our trucks is heading home to Mississauga from Western Canada and a mill has lifts ready, we'll haul them, dry under a Conestoga curtain.
What we haul
Dimensional lumber in lifts, plywood and OSB, engineered joists and beams, treated lumber, fencing and decking. It goes to building supply yards, truss plants and jobsites.

How we secure lumber
- Lifts sit on timbers and are strapped over every tier with corner protectors. The straps are rechecked within the first 50 miles.
- Blocking goes between lifts and against the bulkhead so nothing walks forward on a hard stop.
- Open deck loads are tarped when the yard wants it, strapped down so the tarp doesn't flap.
Lanes
Most of our lumber comes from mills in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba to Ontario yards, and we can't promise a truck every week. Now and then we take Ontario lumber to a GTA, Hamilton, Kitchener or London yard when a Conestoga is already going that way.
Send the pickup and delivery, and dispatch will tell you straight whether we have a truck on that lane.
Questions shippers ask
Open flatbed or Conestoga for lumber?
A Conestoga when the lifts fit under the curtain frame. The forklift loads from the side and the load stays dry without a tarp. An open flatbed with tarps when the stack is taller than the frame or the yard needs an open deck for the crane.
Do you bring Western Canada lumber into Ontario?
Yes, when we have a truck coming back from a delivery west.
How is lumber secured?
Strapped over every tier with corner protection and blocked between lifts. Chains only where the shipper asks.
Can you deliver to a jobsite?
Yes. Tell dispatch what unloading equipment the site has and its gate hours, and we confirm before the truck leaves.
Can the yard unload a Conestoga with a forklift?
Yes. The curtain opens on either side and the lifts come off the way they went on.
