The job

You haul steel coil, beams, plate, aluminum and building products in Ontario, Quebec and the US, and some runs go to Western Canada.
Most loads go on a Rolltite. Some drivers call it a Conestoga or a curtainside. The curtain slides, so you don't tarp.
Your tractor has Samsara. Dispatch can see where you are, so you are not on the phone all day.
We train you on our written securement procedures for chains, straps and coil racks.
Fission is in CTPAT, PIP and FAST, so you can use the FAST lane at Detroit and Buffalo when the load qualifies.
You do your own trip paperwork. You deal with dispatch, the shipper and the receiver yourself.

What you need

AZ licence and 2 years or more of experience.
25 years old or older. This is an insurance requirement.
Clean CVOR and driver abstract.
Able to cross into the US.

Why the work is easier here

Most loads go on a Rolltite, so you are not tarping in January. If a dock is slow, you still get paid for the wait after 2 hours. Our insurer, Northbridge, rates us an Elite carrier for how we manage safety.

Yes, every weekend. The only exception is a Western Canada run: you take the reset on the road, and it is paid.

Can I say no to a Western Canada run?

Yes. Tell dispatch and you stay on runs that get you home every weekend.

Do I tarp?

Not on Rolltite loads. Open flatbed loads need a tarp, and tarping is paid.

When do I get paid?

On the 1st and 16th of every month, by direct deposit.
