Lanes we run
Our cross border loads go mainly through Detroit and Buffalo. At Detroit most loads cross on the Ambassador Bridge, and dispatch uses the Gordie Howe International Bridge when the lane calls for it; see the Gordie Howe bridge for flatbed loads. - South to Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky.
- On request: New York State, New Jersey, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Tennessee.
- North into Ontario on the same trucks, with steel, aluminum, building products and machinery: Michigan to Ontario, Ohio to Ontario, Indiana to Ontario, Illinois to Ontario, Pennsylvania to Ontario and New York to Ontario. How a cross border load goes
- You send the lane, the load and your customs broker. We quote within 1 business hour.
- At pickup the driver checks the paperwork against the freight, and dispatch files the eManifest.
- Your customs broker clears the entry and the truck crosses at Detroit or Buffalo, in the FAST lane when the load qualifies.

Questions shippers and brokers ask
What do I need to give you for a cross border load?
The commercial invoice, the shipper and consignee details, and the contact for your customs broker. The customs broker is always yours; we don't provide one. Dispatch files the ACE or ACI eManifest before the truck reaches the bridge so your customs broker can clear the freight ahead of arrival.
Which crossings do you use?
Detroit and Buffalo mainly. We use other crossings when the lane calls for it, and the FAST lane when the load and the importer qualify.
Do you take broker and 3PL loads across the border?
Yes. Send the rate confirmation to dispatch@fissionlogistics.com or call (905) 799 7900, press 1, 24 hours. The load moves under our USDOT 2322171 and MC 792691, on a Fission trailer and under Fission insurance. We email the carrier packet the same business day, with the certificate of insurance and a W8BEN E for US payers. Send your portal invite or setup forms to the same address and dispatch fills them in.
What does CTPAT mean for my freight?
US Customs has audited how we secure our trucks, trailers and loads. That can mean fewer inspections at the bridge, and the FAST lane needs it. Our CTPAT SVI number is in the carrier packet.
Do you bring loads back from the US?
Yes. Steel, aluminum, building products and machinery come north on the same trucks that went south. If you have Canada bound freight, send it to dispatch.
Do you run Ontario to Michigan?
Yes. Detroit is 1 of our 2 main crossings, and our 6 axle units carry up to 86,000 lb into Michigan. Tandems also run to Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky, and the 6 axle to Ohio and Indiana at up to 76,000 lb.
