Ontario to New Jersey flatbed and Conestoga, through Buffalo
Fission Logistics runs flatbed and Conestoga freight from Mississauga and anywhere in Southern Ontario to New Jersey on request, crossing at Buffalo and running Interstate 90, 81 and 80 to the Turnpike. Newark, Edison, Trenton and Camden all sit inside about 500 miles of the GTA, so loads deliver next day. We are CTPAT validated, PIP and FAST approved, and dispatch files the ACE eManifest on every load.

The lane
We run to New Jersey on request, on the same trucks and the same border setup we use for Pennsylvania and Ohio. Loads leave Mississauga and the rest of Southern Ontario, run the QEW to the Peace Bridge or Lewiston, take Interstate 90 across New York and drop down Interstate 81 and 80 to the Turnpike, or Interstate 81 and 476 to the Camden side. Newark, Edison, Trenton and Camden sit inside about 500 miles of the GTA, so loads deliver next day.
| Trailer | Payload into New Jersey | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Conestoga, 53 ft tandem | Up to 45,000 lb | Freight that has to stay dry: coil, plate, aluminum, shingles |
| Open flatbed, 53 ft tandem | Up to 45,000 lb | Structural steel, pipe, crane loaded freight |
| Step deck or double drop | Step deck up to 45,000 lb, double drop up to 42,000 lb | Tall machinery and equipment |
New Jersey is a tandem lane. Our 6 axle units cross into Michigan, Ohio and Indiana only, so a heavy order is split across tandems at 45,000 lb each. A single piece over 45,000 lb is quoted after dispatch checks the permit route.

Freight on this lane
New Jersey shares the busiest port on the East Coast at Newark and Elizabeth, refineries and chemical plants along the Delaware and the Arthur Kill, warehouse parks the length of the Turnpike, and steel service centers and fabricators feeding construction in the New York and Philadelphia metros. That puts structural steel for fabricators and jobsites, pipe, steel coil and plate, aluminum extrusions, building products and machinery on our trucks. Freight comes back north on the same trucks.
Crossing at Buffalo
- Peace Bridge at Fort Erie or Lewiston to Queenston. Dispatch picks the bridge that suits the route and the hour. Eastern Ontario loads can cross at the Thousand Islands on Interstate 81.
- CTPAT validated and PIP approved. FAST lane when the importer and driver qualify.
- Dispatch files the ACE eManifest going south and the ACI eManifest coming north.
- The customs broker is always yours. Send their contact with the commercial invoice.
- Every tractor runs Samsara, so one tracking link follows the load on both sides of the bridge.
Ship steel, pipe and project freight from Port Newark and Port Elizabeth, Gloucester Marine Terminal and Camden and Philadelphia come north to Ontario and Quebec in bond under our own US bond, with a TWIC driver at the gate.

Oversize loads into New Jersey
A load over New Jersey's legal width, height, length or weight needs an oversize or overweight permit from the New Jersey Department of Transportation, issued through its SUPERLOAD system, plus permits for New York and Pennsylvania on the way through and for Ontario when the load is also over Ontario limits. Dispatch pulls all of them in house, checks the route and gives you 1 price before the truck moves. See oversize and overdimensional.
Getting a New Jersey load quoted
Send the pickup, the New Jersey delivery, the commodity, the weights and the date. Dispatch names the trailer with the price within 1 business hour, 7 am to 5 pm ET, and answers at (905) 799 7900, press 1, 24 hours. Brokers and 3PLs: send the rate confirmation to dispatch and we email the carrier packet the same business day. The same trucks run New York State, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan.
Questions shippers ask
How long does Ontario to New Jersey take?
Next day. Newark is about 780 km from Toronto and Camden about 800 km, so the north and centre of the state sit inside the 500 mile radius we deliver next day. South Jersey and Atlantic City are a longer run, and dispatch gives the window when it quotes. Dispatch confirms the delivery window with the quote.
How heavy a load can you take into New Jersey?
Up to 45,000 lb on a 53 ft tandem, at 80,000 lb gross. Our 6 axle units run into Michigan, Ohio and Indiana only, so heavy New Jersey orders are planned on tandems. A single piece over 45,000 lb is quoted after dispatch checks the permit route.
Which crossing do you use for New Jersey?
Buffalo, at the Peace Bridge or Lewiston to Queenston, then Interstate 90 across New York and Interstate 81 and 80 down to the Turnpike. Eastern Ontario loads can cross at the Thousand Islands instead.
Do you provide the customs broker?
No. The customs broker is always yours. Send their contact with the commercial invoice, and dispatch files the ACE eManifest going south and the ACI eManifest coming north.
Do you pick up at the New Jersey ports?
Yes. Steel, pipe and project freight off the ships at Port Newark, Port Elizabeth, Gloucester and Camden move to Ontario and Quebec in bond under our own US bond, with a TWIC driver at the gate. Port pickups deliver to Canada only, not to US addresses.
