Into the US from southwestern Ontario

From southwestern Ontario our trucks cross at Detroit or Sarnia. At Detroit, most loads cross on the Ambassador Bridge, and dispatch uses the Gordie Howe International Bridge when the lane calls for it; Fission has a Gordie Howe Breakaway account. At Sarnia, the Blue Water Bridge runs to Port Huron, which suits loads off the 402. Dispatch picks the crossing for the pickup and the delivery, and on Canada bound loads confirms the bridge with your customs broker before the ACI eManifest is filed.

We are CTPAT validated and PIP, FAST and CSA approved. Our regular US lanes are Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Pennsylvania. More on cross border trucking.

Wide and heavy loads

A load can be legal width and still too heavy for a tandem: a 6 axle carries up to 86,000 lb inside Ontario. Over 2.6 m wide, we arrange the Ontario permit in house and use local escorts when the width calls for one. See oversize and overdimensional.

How to book a southwestern Ontario load

  1. Send the pickup and the receiver.
  2. Tell us the commodity, the weight, how it loads, and the dimensions if anything is tall or wide.
  3. For a cross border load, add your customs broker's contact.
  4. We quote within 1 business hour, 7 am to 5 pm ET, Monday to Friday, and name the trailer with the price.
  5. Confirm, and the load goes on the dispatch board. Ask for a Samsara tracking link and dispatch sends it.

Questions shippers ask

Which towns in southwestern Ontario do you serve?

Windsor and Essex County, Leamington, Kingsville, Chatham, Tilbury, Wallaceburg, Sarnia, London, St. Thomas, Tillsonburg and Woodstock, and the towns around them.

How often are your trucks in southwestern Ontario?

Every day. Windsor is a daily lane, and the towns along the 401 sit on that lane.

Where do your trucks cross into the US from here?

Detroit, on the Ambassador Bridge or the Gordie Howe International Bridge when the lane calls for it, and Sarnia, on the Blue Water Bridge to Port Huron. Dispatch picks the crossing for the pickup and the delivery.

Do you pick up in Sarnia?

Yes. Sarnia sits at the west end of the 402, and we haul pipe and structural steel there. US bound loads can cross at Sarnia on the Blue Water Bridge to Port Huron.

Do you pick up in Leamington and Kingsville?

Yes. Leamington and Kingsville sit southeast of Windsor on Lake Erie, and Windsor is a daily lane for us. Greenhouse steel rides on an open flatbed, and farm equipment on a step deck or double drop.

Do you pick up in St. Thomas?

Yes. St. Thomas sits just south of London, and London is on the 401 lane we run to Windsor every day. We haul building products, auto parts, steel and machinery in London and St. Thomas.

Can you haul heavy steel in southwestern Ontario?

Yes. A 6 axle carries up to 86,000 lb inside Ontario, so an order that would take 2 tandems often moves on 1 truck.

How fast do I get a price?

Within 1 business hour, 7 am to 5 pm ET, Monday to Friday. Dispatch answers 24 hours.
