Where we run: flatbed lanes from Mississauga, with transit times
Fission Logistics delivers flatbed and Conestoga freight next day within 500 miles of the GTA. That radius covers Southern Ontario, Ottawa, Sudbury, Sault Ste Marie, Montreal and Quebec City. Through Detroit and Buffalo it also covers Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and northern Kentucky. Chicago sits just past the line and most loads there still deliver next day. Each lane below shows the route or crossing, the typical transit and the trailer that usually carries it.

Ontario lanes and transit times from the GTA
Our 80 trucks and 140 trailers run out of our flatbed trucking yard in Mississauga, so Southern Ontario is where most of them are on any given day. Same day in the GTA is often possible but never promised. Southern Ontario, Ottawa, Sudbury and Sault Ste Marie are next day; dispatch gives Thunder Bay with the quote.

Into the US: crossing, transit and the usual freight
Every cross border load stays on one Fission truck the whole way, with no hand off at the border. Dispatch files the ACE or ACI eManifest before the truck reaches the bridge and your customs broker clears the entry. We are CTPAT validated and PIP and FAST approved, so the truck uses the FAST lane when the load and the importer qualify.
| Lane | Crossing | Typical transit | What usually rides it |

Whether a load needs a permit depends on its dimensions. Up to 2.6 m wide and 4.15 m tall rides legal in Ontario. In the US states on this list, legal height stops at 13 ft 6 in. See how wide a load can be and the oversize page for what a permit load needs.
Into Ontario from the US: the same trucks, loaded home
Every southbound truck comes home, so a US pickup bound for Ontario is a backhaul for us. New York runs on request, the rest run both ways all year. Dispatch files the ACI eManifest before the bridge, the customs broker is the importer's, and a CSA importer's freight clears under Customs Self Assessment because Fission is a CSA approved carrier.

Questions shippers ask
How long does a flatbed load take from Toronto to Detroit?
Next day. Detroit is about 370 km from the GTA on the 401, and the truck crosses on the Ambassador Bridge, or the Gordie Howe International Bridge when the lane calls for it. A load picked up in the morning can be at a Detroit area dock the same afternoon when the dock takes it, but we quote it as next day.
Which border crossing do you use?
Detroit for Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Wisconsin and most of Ohio, on the Ambassador Bridge, or the Gordie Howe when the lane calls for it. Buffalo for New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Cleveland. Tennessee goes through either, by destination. Sarnia when the pickup is in the north end of southwestern Ontario. Dispatch picks the bridge for each load.
Which cities are next day from Toronto?
Every city within 500 miles of the GTA: Southern Ontario, Ottawa, Sudbury, Sault Ste Marie, Montreal and Quebec City, plus Detroit, Cleveland, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Albany, Newark and northern Kentucky. Chicago sits just past the line and most loads there still deliver next day. Louisville, Milwaukee and Tennessee are past it, so dispatch gives the delivery window with the quote.
Do you run Western Canada?
Yes. Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver run on Fission trucks and trailers, mostly with company drivers. Dispatch gives the transit time with the quote, since it depends on the pickup day and the hours of service.
Can I track the truck?
Yes. Every tractor runs Samsara. Ask dispatch for the tracking link when you book and the receiver can watch the truck come in.
