Flatbed trucking for energy, pipeline and utility work

Fission Logistics runs pipe hauling in Ontario and flatbed trucking for utility contractors, with 80 trucks and 140 trailers out of Mississauga: line pipe, casing and tubing for oil and gas, water main and sewer pipe for municipal work, coated pipe that cannot be scuffed, generators and light towers, and the structural steel and crated equipment that utility and infrastructure jobs need. A 6 axle carries up to 86,000 lb of pipe inside Ontario and into Michigan, every tier of loose pipe sits on timbers every 8 ft with wedges nailed on both sides, and oversize pieces move on permits dispatch pulls in house.

Pipe to the yard and the right of way

Line pipe, casing and tubing for oil and gas, water main and sewer pipe for municipal work and structural pipe for fabricators move from the mill or the distributor to the pipe yard or the jobsite. Every tier of loose pipe sits on timbers every 8 ft with wedges nailed on both sides so nothing rolls, nothing rides above the bulkhead, and a 6 axle carries up to 86,000 lb of pipe inside Ontario. Coated pipe rides in a Conestoga so the coating arrives unscuffed. See pipe hauling.

Generators, light towers and site equipment

Generators, light towers, compactors and attachments go out to the site and back to the yard on flatbeds and step decks, chained at the tie down points. Crated equipment that has to stay dry rides in a Conestoga. See construction equipment hauling.

Structural steel for utility and plant work

Beams, columns and platforms for utility and plant work ride on open flatbeds for the crane, and heavy orders go on a 6 axle inside Ontario. Long pieces and anything over 2.6 m wide or 4.15 m tall move on permits dispatch pulls in house. See structural steel and rebar and oversize and overdimensional.

Cross border and Quebec

Pipe and equipment cross at Detroit and Buffalo with the ACE or ACI eManifest filed by dispatch and your broker clearing the load; we are CTPAT validated and PIP, FAST and CSA approved. Quebec jobs run on the same trucks that carry steel and aluminum between the provinces on a regular lane. See cross border flatbed and Ontario to Quebec.

Getting a load quoted

Send the pipe length and count, coated or bare, loose or bundled, the site and the date. For equipment, send the make, the weight and the tie down points. Dispatch names the trailer with the price within 1 business hour, 7 am to 5 pm ET, and answers at (905) 799 7900, press 1, 24 hours.

Questions shippers ask

How much pipe fits on one truck?

Up to 45,000 lb on a tandem, and up to 86,000 lb on a 6 axle inside Ontario and into Michigan. Send the length, the count, coated or bare, and loose or bundled, and dispatch tells you the truck count.

Can coated pipe travel without scuffing?

Yes. Coated pipe rides in a Conestoga with the straps over protection, so the coating arrives the way it left the mill.

Do you deliver pipe to a right of way or a remote utility site?

Yes. Send the site location, the contact, the hours and how the pipe comes off (crane, loader or forks). The driver calls before arriving.

Can you move a generator or a light tower?

Yes, on a flatbed or a step deck, chained at the tie down points. Send the make and the weight and dispatch names the trailer.

What needs a permit?

In Ontario anything over 2.6 m (8 ft 6 in) wide or 4.15 m (13 ft 7 in) tall, load included, or over legal length or weight. US states have their own limits. Dispatch pulls the permits in house and checks the route before quoting.

How fast can you quote?

Within 1 business hour, 7 am to 5 pm ET, Monday to Friday. Dispatch answers the phone 24 hours.
