Structural steel delivery to the jobsite: beams, columns and rebar

Beams, columns and trusses ride on open flatbeds so the crane can pick them along the full deck, chained over edge protection and tarped only if you ask. Rebar and mesh ride open or, for short pieces, dry in a Conestoga. Heavy steel orders move on a 6 axle at up to 86,000 lb inside Ontario. Send the piece list with lengths and weights and the site's crane hours, and dispatch loads the truck in the order the crane will take it. See structural steel and rebar hauling.

Shingles, roofing and building products

Shingles get refused for a torn wrap or a wet corner. In a Conestoga the forklift loads from the side, the curtain closes over the skids and nothing is tarped, so the pallets arrive dry and square. A tandem Conestoga carries up to 45,000 lb of shingles. A real season: 73 shingle loads from an Indiana plant to Ontario. See building products transport.

Equipment to the site and back

Skid steers, mini excavators, compactors, generators, light towers and attachments go out to the jobsite and back to the yard on flatbeds and step decks, chained at the manufacturer's tie down points. Dealers and rental yards send the machine list and the site contact, and the driver calls before arriving. See construction equipment hauling.

Oversize and permits

A load over 2.6 m (8 ft 6 in) wide or 4.15 m (13 ft 7 in) tall needs an Ontario permit, and a US delivery needs the state's permit too. Dispatch pulls both in house, checks the route and gives 1 price before the truck moves. Long steel and tall machines are the usual ones. See oversize and overdimensional and how wide a load can be in Ontario.

Getting a load quoted

Send the piece list with lengths and weights, the site address, the crane or forklift hours and the date. Partials and multi stop runs are priced the same way. Dispatch names the trailer with the price within 1 business hour, 7 am to 5 pm ET, and answers at (905) 799 7900, press 1, 24 hours. Real moves for this kind of freight are on load stories.

Questions shippers ask

Do you deliver to jobsites as well as yards?

Yes. Send the site address, the contact, the receiving hours and whether a crane or a forklift unloads. The driver calls before arriving and delivers in the order you need.

Can shingles and insulation ride without a tarp?

Yes. In a Conestoga the curtain opens at the dock, the forklift loads from the side, and the curtain closes over the skids. Nothing is tarped, so no wrap tears and no corner gets wet.

Do you take partial loads to a jobsite?

Yes. A bundle of rebar, 2 skids of plate or a few pallets of shingles is priced as a partial with other freight on the deck. Multi stop runs to several yards or sites are priced the same way.

How tall or wide before a permit is needed in Ontario?

2.6 m (8 ft 6 in) wide and 4.15 m (13 ft 7 in) tall, load included. Past either, dispatch pulls the permit and checks the route before quoting.

Can you move construction equipment cross border?

Yes. Machines go out to US jobsites and back on the same trucks, with the ACE or ACI eManifest filed by dispatch and your broker clearing it. We are CTPAT validated and PIP and FAST approved.

How fast can you quote a construction load?

Within 1 business hour, 7 am to 5 pm ET, Monday to Friday. Send the pieces, the weight, the longest and tallest piece, the site and the date.
