47 coil loads from a Hamilton mill to the Milwaukee area in 2 weeks
In the first 2 weeks of March 2023 a Hamilton steel mill had 2 processors near Milwaukee pulling coil hard. Fission ran 47 loads in 11 pickup days, up to 7 trucks a day, 2 coils a truck on 43 of them and a single coil on 4, 45 of them on Rolltite Conestogas, and all 47 delivered. Milwaukee is about 960 km from Toronto, past our next day radius, so each load left with a delivery window the processor could plan around.

A real move from Fission's order history, February and March 2023. Shippers and receivers are described by type, never named. Load counts are delivered loads; weights, trailers and pickup dates are from the dispatch records.

The ask
This lane needed a carrier that would take 47 loads in 2 weeks, up to 7 on the same day, and keep taking them.
How the coil rode
On a Rolltite the roof and curtains open for the crane and close over the coil, so it rode dry. Every Fission flatbed and Conestoga carries coil racks and beveled timbers, so the coil sat in racks on timbers, eye to the side, with chains through the eye and protectors at every contact point. Two coils a truck kept each load near tandem weight for Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin at 80,000 lb gross. The driver rechecks the chains within the first 80 km, then at least every 3 hours or 240 km.
The border and the road
Dispatch filed the ACE eManifest before the truck reached the bridge, and the receiver's broker cleared it. From Detroit or Port Huron the run is Interstate 94 across Michigan, around Chicago and north to Milwaukee, about 960 km from Toronto. That is past our 500 mile next day radius, so the delivery window came with the quote and the processor planned its crane time around it.
What the mill got
One carrier, one tracking link per load and 47 deliveries. A lane like this is quoted once and run on a rate confirmation per load. See Ontario to Wisconsin flatbed and steel coil transport.
